If you want to snack, why not choose something really good?

WE LOVE TO BAKE FOR YOU!

We go a long way back …

At Buiteman we’ve been baking delicacies since 1958. Founded by J.Q. Buiteman, who started his first bakery in Arkel and moved to H. I. Ambacht in 1965. In the 70’s he set up a bakery exclusive for savouries in Etten-Leur.

Today the bakery is managed by the second generation; his daughter Henriëtte and her husband Simon Klootwijk. Mr Buiteman continued working in the factory on a daily basis until 1995.

Our Famous Gouda Crumbles

This is where it all started… the mother of our savoury biscuits. A good crumble is crisp at the first bite, then crumbly, slowly releasing the full-bodied flavour of the aged cheese that lingers on the palate for quite a long time. Adding extra cheese on top of the crumble enhances the flavour, adding an extra dimension to it. Its regular round shape makes a nice mouthful.

Mini Cheese Baguettes with Sundried Tomato

When we were experimenting with adding sun dried tomatoes to our baguette shaped bites, we almost accidentally discovered that robust English Double Gloucester perfectly supports the delicate flavour of those lovely vine ripened beauties. Double Gloucester, the most well-known Gloucester variety, is made with full cream only and has a characteristic, rich, buttery taste. Like in a good relationship, these two main ingredients of our sun dried tomato & cheese baguettes, complement each other.

Gruyère A.O.P. Cheese Biscuits

The traditional 100-pound wheels may only be marked “Swiss Gruyère A.O.P.” if they have been produced in one of the 5 officially recognised districts. Swiss Gruyère A.O.P. has a very old tradition. Its texture is quite dense and compact. Slightly grainy, the cheese has a wonderful complexity of flavours – at first fruity, later more earthy and nutty – well captured in these biscuits.

Parmigiano Reggiano Crumbles

Parmigiano Reggiano D.O.P. is commonly referred to as ‘The King of Italian Cheeses’. It is a hard Italian Cheese made from partly skimmed, unpasteurized milk. It is only allowed to be produced in the provinces of Parma Reggio-Emilia and Modena, as well as parts of Emilia-Romagna. Parmigiano Reggiano D.O.P. is a product that matures well; evolving in flavour as it ages, giving these biscuits an extra full bodied flavour.

Gouda & Chive Biscuits

Never change a winning team. That is why we use the almost classic combination of cheese and chives in an original biscuit. Of course, authentic Gouda once again proves its merits, for in our opinion, this is the best cheese to go with this aromatic and tasteful herb.

Cheddar Cheese Biscuits

Fully cured Cheddar is a hard cheese, shaped like a drum, varying from white to pale yellow in colour. The more mature, the sharper the taste of Cheddar, but it never gets overwhelming. It finds it origin in Somerset, England. Good Cheddar is firm and, slightly crumbly in texture, yet mellow in character. The cheddar gives these biscuits a bit of earthiness with hints of hazelnut.

OUR ORGANIC RANGE

It’s Organic!

We have a certified organic production process. We exclusively use the best organic, GMO-free raw materials available on the market. From eggs to tomatoes to herbs and spices, all ingredients come from certified organic suppliers. We love working with organic ingredients because they are the ultimate representation of our philosophy towards food.

With Gouda or Goat’s Cheese

Contrary to the soft goat’s cheeses that are well known all over the world, Dutch goat’s cheese is often hard cheese, produced in the same way as an authentic Gouda. Dutch goat’s cheeses have been awarded more than once at prestigious international contests in the past few years. Its complex flavour can be described as fullbodied, a little bit spicy, slightly salty but with a creamy texture.

Serving Suggestion

Our biscuits are not only suitable as a delicious snack with a glass of wine but can be served in other ways as well. Be inspired by this gorgeous looking and very tasteful recipe with our organic goat’s cheese biscuits.

Warm the biscuits in the microwave (optional) for 20 seconds – Microwave ovens vary. Place the biscuits on a plate. Place some fresh goat’s cheese on the biscuit. Place a slice of fig on top of the goat’s cheese. Poor some honey over the canape or alternatively serve a bowl of honey so people can dip.
